About Us

Junie’s House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization established in honor of the late Mrs. June Fisher (1920–2000), the beloved grandmother of founder Kenya Ware. Affectionately known as “Junie” by her family, friends, and community, Mrs. Fisher was widely regarded as a pillar of compassion and service. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, her Los Angeles home served as a safe haven for both children and seniors, often welcoming more than 15 vulnerable people at a time who were in need of love, structure, and a sense of belonging. In the early 1980s, Mrs. Fisher formalized her lifelong calling by opening a home-based daycare, where she continued to nurture and support children with unwavering care well into her 80s. Her legacy of selfless service and community advocacy remains an enduring inspiration. In 2025, driven by her grandmother’s enduring impact, Kenya Ware founded Junie’s House to carry forward that legacy of compassion, dignity, and dedicated care. The organization provides safe, therapeutic residential housing for seniors, as well as personalized in-home supportive services—ensuring older adults receive the warmth, respect, and care they deserve within nurturing community environments.
